Service Benefits

  • A reasonably priced solution for one of the most pressing issues confronting technology-driven organizations with a heritage mandate: preservation of accessible, authentic and reliable digital records.
  • Access to professional specialists with expert knowledge supporting implementation and use of the Digital Preservation Service (DPS).
  • Realization of economies of scale through pooling and leveraging of financial, technical and human resources, surpassing what institutions are capable of allocating individually.  This service is offered at a fraction of the total cost of implementing and managing this infrastructure in-house (e.g. staffing, hardware acquisition, facilities, disaster recovery, software maintenance, technical support, etc.).
  • Realization of a critical threshold of functionality and reliability, achieved more quickly than if individual institutions embarked upon their own unique DPS projects.
  • Establishment of strategic leadership through the ACDPS Advisory Commitee.
  • Availability of services in both French and English.
  • Availability of a fully Canadian-based and operated DPS solution compliant with Canadian law. All servers and data centres are located in Canada.
  • Support for the sustainability of Canadian archival network and the Archivematica/ AtoM software projects through modest service fees (included in subscription) that support research and development.
